J.L Smith passed away on the morning of July 23rd, 2020 in his home surrounded by his beloved family.

J.L was the 7th born to Betty Jane Hood Smith and Coil Elbert Smith on Sunday, November 20th, 1932 in Rockdale, Texas. J.L was raised in Milano, Texas where he made many beautiful memories with his family. J.L's family eventually moved to Austin, Texas where he embarked on his first journey when he joined the Army on July 24th, 1953. Throughout the time he served, he was able to touch the lives of many, as well as travel to places such as Japan and Korea.
Later in 1964 while in Acuña, Mexico "It was love at first sight", as he would say when he met the love of his life, Juanita Hernandez. Soon after they married on August 2nd, 1967. Through their union,  J.L gained a son, Francisco Posada. In 1972 J.L and Juanita welcomed their daughter Amanda Faye into the world.
J.L enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing dominoes, listening to country music, picking pecans, and gardening. Although he had many hobbies, his true passion was always cooking and baking. He was naturally very talented and knowledgeable in the culinary arts which he turned into his life long career. J.L especially enjoyed family gatherings with his parents, brothers, sister as well as extended family. He loved the time he spent with his wife and children, he was the glue who held everything and everyone together. J.L was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he unconditionally loved his family above all.
J.L is survived by his loving wife Juanita Smith of 52 years, brother John Smith, daughter Amanda Faye Solis, son Francisco Posada, honorary family Joe and Irene Rodriguez, honorary family Jose Escobar. He is also survived by all of his grandchildren whom he will be dearly missed by.
