“Pinky” Martha Harriet McKinney Smith peacefully went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2018 at the age of 74.

Pinky was born in Goose Creek, Texas on March 21, 1943 to the late I.W. “Dub” and Lucille McKinney. She graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, Texas and attended Texas Christian University.

On November 24, 1964 she married Stanley Phillip Smith of Bastrop in Houston, Texas. More than 10 years later in 1975 Stanley and Pinky moved with their three children, Amy Catherine, Phillip McKinney and Martha Claire to Bastrop, Texas where they built and created their forever home.

Family and friends were Pinky’s passion and delight. She always enjoyed and appreciated the good in all things and admired the smallest pleasures of life until the very end.

She loved the town of Bastrop and did all that she could to make it a better community. She served on numerous Non-Profit Boards, helped to restore the Bastrop Opera House, served on the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission, and was a huge supporter in the Life of the Calvary Episcopal Church. She was also one of the original members of the Bastrop Yacht Club, and Co-Owner of The Shop for All Seasons with her dear best friend Minifred Trigg.

Pinky will be remembered as a generous soul always ready to help others. She exuded commitment and integrity in all that she did, especially during her time as a realtor in Bastrop County.

Pinky is survived by her three children, daughter Amy Hughes and husband Randy; son, Phillip Smith and wife Cameron, and daughter Martha Chabot and husband John. She was the world’s best Nana to her grandchildren who were the loves of her life: Mallory Margarete Hughes, Austin Smith Hughes, Payte Dawton Hughes, Kleber Marshall Trigg, Martha Claire Trigg, Haiden Smith Trigg, Brice Phillip Chabot and TJ Smith.

Pinky is also survived by her sister Karen Moore and husband Bobby Moore. She is proceeded in death by her late husband Stanley P. Smith; parents, IW and Lucille McKinney and sister Molly Chisholm.
