Bette Alexander

Bette Carolyn Latham Alexander 86, residing in Mountain City, Texas entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 18, 2020.  She died peacefully at home with her family by her side.  She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife and friend.  She was born on August 28, 1933 in Farmersville, Tx. to Sid and Halla V Latham. The third of four children she excelled in school, graduated from Farmersville High School at age sixteen. She attended college in Denton, Tx. and obtained a degree in education. She taught grade school in Borger, Tx. where she met and fell in love with Donnie B. Alexander. They were married on August 24, 1955. Together they had four daughters, Gretchen Kathleen, Jennifer Ann, Betsy Lou, and Carrie Anna. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betsy Lou Pegg in 2010, her husband Don in 2013, and her youngest daughter Carrie Anna Baker in 2019.  She is survived by her oldest daughter Gretchen Remstam, her daughter Jenni and husband Gary Adams. She leaves behind twelve grandchildren:  Kristi, Rebecca, Emily, Jon, Judd, Carolyn, Al, Tyler, Ashley, Benjamin, Joseph, and Katherine, eleven great grandchildren, a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was a longtime member of Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston, TX. Where she was active as a Sunday school teacher and in various outreach programs. Her hobbies included, needlework, sewing, and holiday baking and crafts. One of her favorite things to do was to bake tons of Christmas Cookies with her youngest daughter Carrie, it was their holiday tradition. Family and neighbors looked forward to those cookies every year. She loved family gatherings, shopping with her daughters, good movies, a great hamburger and fries, fried shrimp and hanging out with her grandchildren. She spent the last six and a half years living with Jenni and her family, where she was greatly loved and will be missed more than words can describe.

A celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
