Charles Riordan

September 3, 1981 — April 24, 2020

South Austin Location

Charles Justin Riordan September 3, 1981 - April 24, 2020 (Austin, Texas) It is with deep sadness that the family of Charles "Charlie" Riordan announces his passing suddenly on April 24, 2020 at age 38.

Charlie was born in Victoria, Texas to Thom Riordan and Robin Braden Roessler on September 3, 1981. He is survived by his parents, sister Mandi Peoples Rodriguez (Conrad), niece Kelsie McCord-Garcia, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents James Summers and Elizabeth Hulga Raesz Summers, maternal grandparents Lawrence Braden Sr. and Lois Henley Braden, and brother Thomas Jason "Jake" Peoples.

From a young age, Charlie always had the best sense of humor -- corny jokes were his specialty and he always shared the best memes. He was an avid reader, comic book collector, movie-buff and lover of all things Marvel. Since he was kid, Charlie loved playing video games, and would only on occasion let his brother and sister join in when they were young. He also enjoyed boardgames - like Friday night dominoes -- and live action role-playing or "LARPing". He traveled and attended many Magic role-playing events, where he made many wonderful friends. In addition to reading and gaming, he had a very rich singing voice and loved karaoke. Dear friends will always remember him singing his go-to song, "Zoot Suit Riot".

He loved hunting and fishing with his dad, fitness, and body building. He had even planned on competing in a Strongman competition. Remaining health conscious and taking care of his body was very important to him. He loved cooking and sharing new recipes with his friends and family.

Charlie had a very kind, gentle soul and loved animals. Throughout his life, he cared for and welcomed many pets into his home. Most recently, his beloved Dachshund, Roxi -- she will miss him dearly.

After graduating high school from Karnes City Academy two years ahead of his class at age 16, Charlie attended Victoria College for two years before moving to Austin to pursue his career. Throughout his career, he received many technical certifications and was a true IT master. He was very happy at his job at Austin Community College as the Sr. IT Technician.

He was truly loved by his family and will be missed.

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we will be scheduling a memorial to celebrate his life at a later date.
