John Guyton

February 10, 1947 — July 14, 2022

South Austin Location

John Willie Guyton was called home by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 14, 2022. He was known as Billy by his siblings, Brother G.G. by his brothers and sisters in Christ, and G.G. by his grandkids and great grandkids. Brother G.G. made a promise to the Lord to return to the church over 12 years ago and he kept his word. If he was not ill, he was an active participant at Baptist Temple Church. He had a generous loving heart and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris Guyton, and Tommie C. (Eans) Fisher and stepfather, Johnny Fisher; siblings: Ira (Bob) Guyton, Doris (Laverne) Campbell, Bobbie Fisher, Katie Mangual, Norris (Jake) Fisher, and Charlie B. Fisher.

He graduated from Johnston High School in 1964 and went on to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was united in marriage to Marsha Sue Griffin (Peaches aka Naynay) on April 7, 1969. They were married for 53 years and had three children: Dean Griffin, Sharon Frischen (Larry), and Bernard Guyton (Amberley).  Their family grew when they were blessed with four (total) grandkids; Dessiny Guyton, Johnathon Frischen, Terrence Frischen (Esmeralda) and Larry Murray (Beth). Then, the Lord added to their number five (total) great grandkids; Malia Frischen, Alayna Frischen, Isabella Frischen, Parker Murray, and Gibson Murray.

John was a Christian, a dedicated family man and a hard worker. He loved spending time with his family. He would stop on a dime to attend a garage sale or yard sale. He often worked 2 full time jobs at the same time to support his family. He was employed by the City of Austin, drove a U. T. shuttle bus for Capital Metro, then retired from Austin Community College in 2021 after 38 years of faithful service.

Billy is survived by his wife, kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and siblings: Dorris Fowler, Curtis Guyton, Eddie Fisher, Charles Fisher, Ted Fisher, Johnny Fisher, Jimmy (Lee) Fisher, Garbie Henry, Algie Williams, Glenn Guyton, James Guyton, Milton (Doris) Guyton, Larry Guyton, Evelyn Dibbles, Johnnie Fisher Jr., Melvin Fisher, and Gladys Jackson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling and present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy; to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever, Amen. Jude 1:24-25
