Patrick Barrs

July 23, 1966 — October 27, 2021

North Austin Location

Patrick Andre Barrs, Sr. was born on July 23, 1966 to Ella Louise Moore and Orangerine Rena Barrs, Sr. in Austin, TX. He transitioned to eternal rest with his Lord and Savior on October 27, 2021, in Hutto, TX.

From an early age, Patrick was reared in the church and attended Grant Chapel AME Methodist Church with his mother Ella, great auntie Idella, and great cousin Paige, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Hercules Miles, Jr. Patrick later became a member of St. Stephens Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert Walker, Sr., where he served until his passing.

As a proud Austinite, Patrick matriculated through the Austin Independent School District and graduated from Lanier High School in 1984. After graduating high school, Patrick attended Cisco College in Cisco, TX and later transferred to Laney College in Oakland, CA, where he studied Business Administration and played collegiate football.

Patrick grew up in the heart of East Austin where he played youth football and baseball for East Austin Youth Foundation, home of the Yellow Jackets. Later, Patrick gave back to the community that helped raise him by serving as coach and mentor to the youth – positively impacting the lives of dozens of young men and families. Among many hobbies, Patrick enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, singing in the men’s choir, cheering for the Washington Football Team, thought provoking conversations on current events, and horseback riding.

Patrick was known as a family man and his pride and joy were his children Taylor Andrea Barrs and Patrick Andre Barrs, Jr. Patrick, Sr. stressed the importance of education to his children while encouraging exposure to extracurricular activities.

Patrick was a hard and dedicated worker who spent 26 years of his career working at Applied Materials as a buyer in their purchasing department.

Left to cherish his precious memories and continue his legacy: his mother, Ella Moore, daughter, Taylor Andrea Barrs, son, Patrick Andre Barrs, Jr. (PJ). Sisters: Caula Barrs-McMarion, Clarissa Barrs, Phyllis Barrs, Sandra Barrs, Eulanda Perkins, and Cheryl Williams-Friday. Brothers: Allen Alexander, Jr., Charles Joyner, Larry Middleton, Sr., Cyril Ray Friday, and Kim Hale, God son Cameron Pinchback, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and a multitude of friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Orangerine Barrs, Sr., great auntie, Idella Lewis, special cousin, Paige Lewis, nephew Ryan McMarion, brothers Orangerine Barrs, Jr.(OB), and Kenneth Joyner, and sister Rhonda Barrs.
